William Symington


Bill has over twenty-five years of experience working in the financial sector with a particular focus on debt capital markets. He worked for five years at Baring Brothers & Co., Limited on their Sterling bond desk before moving to Creditanstalt-Bankverein's London Branch. There, he was principally involved in bringing sovereign and corporate bond issues out of the newly emerging markets of eastern Europe to western investors. In 2000, Bill moved to √ćslandsbanki hf, one of Iceland's largest banks, to develop their foreign currency funding programme. He has an abiding interest in Iceland and its culture, and is Chairman of the British Icelandic Chamber of Commerce - a body that seeks to promote closer business ties between the two countries.

Bill has attended courses at RACC since he was a teenager, and attends the Richmond Jazz School there currently. His main interests are playing jazz clarinet, saxophones and trombone, landscape photography and travel. He is married and lives in Twickenham. Bill joined the Governing Body in July 2013.
