A programme of over 400 courses – many offering discounts of 20% or more - is being introduced for the spring by RACC (Richmond Adult Community College).
More than160 courses are offered at a reduced price and cover a wide range of subjects including Art and Design, Business, Finance and IT, Foreign Languages, Graphic Design, Multimedia and Web, Creative Writing and Journalism, Teacher Training and Leisure & Lifestyle.
The courses are being run from January until early July and in addition to the many cut price courses, there are also a number of free ‘Taster Sessions’ so that people can try a course before committing themselves.
The launch of the cut price courses is part of RACCs continuing programme of helping local people deal with the difficult economic situation and follows on from a number of events and programmes that have run to help people back into work or to change career.
RACC’s Principal, Christina Conroy explained “We are committed to helping residents combat the effects of the economic downturn. One of the ways we can help them to do this is by encouraging people back into education to develop existing skills and acquire new ones. During the down turn it is also important that people are offered opportunities to improve their quality of life, which is why the curriculum has an extensive selection of leisure and lifestyle courses too.
“We recognise that many of our learners are experiencing financial difficulties at this time and so we have reduced the price of our course fees by an average of 20% to help people back into education.”
