Success in meeting the needs of 16-18 year olds – especially those from non-traditional educational backgrounds - has resulted in a major financial boost for RACC (Richmond Adult Community College).
Increased Government funding has been made available to the College enabling it to more than double the number of full and part-time courses – from 120 this year to 250 in 2009/10.
The courses are primarily designed to help those who may not have done well in their GCSEs and want to re-sit them, or are looking to go on to vocational courses in business, IT, creative arts, health care or land-based studies.
The extra help for 16 to 18 year olds comes at time when the College is also celebrating significant increases in the number of students gaining higher grades in both their A and AS exams.
Commented RACC Principal, Christina Conroy: “The extra funding is a recognition of the results we have achieved helping 16 to 18 years olds realise their potential. We are delighted that we shall be able to help even more during the coming year.
“The increased number of students gaining higher grades at A and AS level is also extremely gratifying.”
