On the 19th of May, Richmond Adult Community College (RACC) hosted a Head to Head Jazz evening.
Jazz giants Eddie Harvey – pioneer of traditional and modern jazz movements in the UK, writer and educationalist – and Dave Gelly – Jazz musician and award winning writer - went ‘Head to Head’ in a unique event.
The pair spent the evening swapping notes on their favourite jazz recordings and sharing their memories of people, places and personalities with the audience.
One member of the audience said
“The evening was informative and entertaining. It was a most unusual event. The two presenters were a good choice – obviously knowledgeable and good fun.”
The performance was recorded for the National Jazz Archive, of which Dave Gelly is president.
