Jewellery Workshop - Intermediate

This intermediate level course will enable you to further develop your jewellery design and making skills in a workshop environment.
Course Content
The workshops will give you the opportunity to work on individual projects and design ideas of your own choosing, at your own pace with guidance and tuition from the tutor.
The workshop offers you the opportunity to practise a wide variety of techniques including enamelling, rolling mill texturing, casting, stone setting etc
Your tutor will be available to guide you with technical and design assistance as required.
Base metals (copper/brass) for this course can be purchased from the college. Silver will need to be purchased by you from specialist jewellery suppliers which your tutor can recommend.
In keeping with professional working practice, the last 15 minutes of each session will be used to clean up your work space.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this course you must be 19 or over on 31st August prior to the course start date.
This course is not suitable for beginners - previous jewellery design and making skillsare essential.
As there will be some written handouts available to support information given verbally in class, basic literacy skills are advisable. You should also have basic numeracy skills in order to make measurements and do addition/subtraction/multiplication tasks.
First Class Requirements
A cloth apron, sketchbook, pens & pencils, examples of your work, and ideas for your first project
All learners will receive a health and safety induction in alignment with their course. Learners are advised to wear closed toe shoes and to dress appropriately.
Attendance Requirements
Good attendance is of benefit to you, but absences obviously do occur
Assessment Methods
There are no formal assessments but you will be given verbal feedback on your progress and how to improve during the course.
