The course will introduce you to a range of materials, processes and techniques in painting and drawing. It will begin with a series of exercises aimed at developing your confidence and skills, and then progress onto short projects in which you can apply these and start to develop your own individual interests and creativity. Alongside this you will be introduced to important art historical themes and movements to help contextualise your work. These will be some gallery visits during the course to give you the opportunity to discuss work in the flesh . Towards the end of the course you will be given increasing independence and support in refining your skills and developing your own approach. You will be required to keep a sketchbook to draw, collect, experiment and reflect on your work as it develops.
Ongoing assessment throughout the course via group discussion and tutor feedback. You will be required to keep a journal/sketchbook during the course as well as a portfolio of the work you produce during the course.
The cost of any visits to galleries is not included in the course fee. Still not sure if the course is right for you? There will be a Taster (C00710-121301) for this course on the 11/9/12, from 10:00-12:30, price £15.
