With unemployment steadily increasing, RACC (Richmond Adult Community College) has introduced a programme of free courses to help the borough’s jobless.
The scheme, run in association with Jobcentre Plus, offers training in a range of skills including Management, Customer Service, IT and Business Administration and Office Practice.
The courses – available to those who have been unemployed for at least six months - last from two to 15 weeks and are practical with no exam. All those taking part will also receive professional support and advice about returning to work.
Once in employment, there will still be opportunities to continue training, for instance through an apprenticeship or part-time study.
The College is running the courses following the award of a grant from the Learning and Skills Council.
Explained Nicola Herbertson, Director of Business Services ”It is a measure of RACC’s track record in training provision that the College has been selected for this new initiative. Working with Jobcentre Plus we hope to be able to make a significant contribution to helping reduce the level of unemployment locally.”
Anyone interested in enrolling should speak to their Job Centre advisor.
